Easter Horse Camp

This is a sample itinerary subject to change.

Day 1:

Check into The Rainforest Lodge at Sleeping Giant. Once you’ve checked in, you’ll enjoy a welcome lunch at the Stables. Afterward, you’ll meet the horses – this is your chance to find your horse. Once you’ve met your equine partner, you’ll have a short ride in the arena to get to know your horse. The day closes off with the group planning your next few days together.

Day 2:

7:00 a.m. On day two, your day starts at the Stables where you’ll get your horse and groom him – a bonding opportunity for horse and rider.

8:15 a.m. Enjoy your breakfast at the Stables, freshly delivered from our onsite restaurant the Grove House.

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Now it’s time to ride! This hour and a half is based on each rider’s experience level. No need to worry about riding experience in this group setting, our wranglers will tailor your riding to you. Advanced riders will have opportunities to work on dressage, show jumping, English and Western riding, trail trial courses, and endurance riding.

10:30 a.m. After an hour and a half in the field, it’s time to focus on horse theory. Grab a seat, it’s time to learn about the ins and outs of horses including horse anatomy, equine coat colors, and various horse subjects. You can also practice your grooming and saddlery.

12:00 p.m. It’s time for a well-deserved lunch from the Grove House. Relax with some free time.

2:00 p.m. Did you know that the pool is one of the perfect places to practice arena strategy? While our horses rest, you’ll take a refreshing dip in the pool where your instructor will use the pool as an arena to teach you how to change directions, which you can later apply in our paddocks.

4:00 p.m. The group will head back to the Stables to spend another hour and a half practicing riding in our paddocks or on our trail.

5:30 p.m. After a full day of fun and learning, it’s time to head back to the main resort grounds and get rested and ready for tomorrow.

Day 3:

7:00 a.m. Start the day bright and early with your horse. Bring him in for grooming.

8:15 a.m. Have a hearty breakfast at the Stables.

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Practice what you’ve learned so far with more riding in our paddocks or on our trail.

10:30 a.m. Practice makes perfect and knowledge is power. It’s time for more horse theory.

12:00 p.m. Break for lunch and some free time.

2:00 p.m. It’s time to meet back at the pool to learn horse paces, diagonals, and leads.

5:00 p.m. Enjoy some bonding time with the horses. By now you should know your horse anatomy and you can paint a skeleton on your horse using horse-safe luminous paint. After securing the horses in the paddocks and watching them glow, your last dinner will be a bonfire burger and hotdog dinner at the Stables.

Day 4:

7:00 a.m. It’s the last day of your summer horse camp! First things first, bring in your horse and groom him.

8:15 a.m. Breakfast at the Stables.

9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Have fun taking your horse for one last ride and practice everything you’ve learned these past few days.

10:30 a.m. Make memories by painting horseshoes and sharpening your horse theory.

12:00 p.m. Lunch at the Stables and awards for the most improved rider, best-kept horse, and best at horse theory.
